Welcome to Fairlands Middle School

I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you as the Headteacher of Fairlands Middle School — a dedicated and inspiring educational setting for your child. At Fairlands, we are committed to providing a caring and supportive environment that nurtures the growth of young minds, preparing them for the challenges of the future.

Our mission is to guide children through their educational journey, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for their next stage of learning and encouraging them to thrive in our ever-evolving society. To achieve this, we have crafted a learning environment where pupils feel secure, fostering the development of their self-esteem. Emphasising respect for others and instilling a sense of personal and collective responsibility, we cultivate a strong sense of community within our school.

Central to our school’s aims and values is a broader perspective on pupils’ learning, aligning with our goal of supporting children to achieve the highest standards across the curriculum. As a Middle School, we aspire to excellence in core skills while providing quality specialist teaching across the age range.

Fairlands Middle School understands the unique challenges that come with adolescence. We support our pupils during this vulnerable time by cultivating a sense of security and belonging within the school and society as a whole.

We have strong partnerships with Axbridge First School Academy, Cheddar First School, Shipham CofE First School, and Draycott and Rodney Stoke CofE First School, as most of our pupils’ transition to Fairlands in Year 5 from these schools, and a majority continue their journey to Kings Academy. Our House System aligns with Kings Academy, ensuring consistency and facilitating a seamless transition to the senior school in Year 9.

We believe in the importance of a partnership between home and school. At Fairlands Middle School, we actively encourage parental involvement in your child’s education. Your support in our educational, social and fundraising activities is invaluable and we look forward to embarking on your child’s next stage of education together.

I would encourage you to visit the school and experience our pupils and staff in action.

Thank you for your interest in our school and I look forward to welcoming you to Fairlands.
